Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah – A Draft of Taj Mahal

The Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah is a beautiful Mughal mausoleum located in the city of Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is lovingly described with many nicknames such as Jewel Box, Baby Taj and Little Taj Mahal. It is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal because of its interior which is even more beautiful than of the most popular Taj Mahal.

The walls are constructed with white marble of Rajasthan and decorate with semi-precious stones like cornelian, jasper, lapis lazuli, onyx, and topaz. Light penetrates to the interior through delicate jali screens of intricately carved white marble.
